One of the main contributing factors to damaged, dull and dehydrated hair is heat styling. However, this can be easily prevented by using a heat protectant in your styling routine. We’d argue that a heat protecting spray is an essential product in any haircare routine, especially when you use heat on your hair such as blow drying, straightening or curling.  How does heat protectant spray work? Heat protecting spray works by creating a barrier around the hair, so when heat is applied it protects the hair from burning and drying out. Here’s everything you need to know!  How to Get Dead Skin Off Lips: Step-by-Step Follow these steps to get your lips kissably soft in no time! Step 1: Exfoliate Your Lips Gentle exfoliation is the best way to remove dead skin from your lips. Here’s how to use the primer pre-styling: Step 1: If you’ll be curling or straightening your hair, you should always start with dry hair, as using a curler or straightener on damp/wet hair is damaging and the dampness will make your style drop very quickly. If you’ll be blow drying damp hair, then you can apply the product to damp hair before step 2. Step 2: Warm 1 to 2 pea-sized amounts of the primer up in the palms of your hands (1 for short hair, 2 to 3 for long or very long hair). Then run this through the lengths of your hair, brushing it through to make sure your hair is evenly coated. You can use the remainder towards your root area for added lift and volume.  Step 3: Apply the Propolis Infused Heat Protecting Spray to your hair to protect it from heat damage, and then curl, straighten or blow-dry as desired.  Note: The primer is not a heat protector. Don’t forget to use heat protection before using your styling tools!  Post styling The primer can also be used post styling to tame flyaways, create slick ponytails or buns, prevent frizz and give added hold to the style you’ve created. The product has a matte, non-greasy finish when creating slick looks.  Step 1: After putting your hair up in a slick bun or ponytail, use a bristle brush (a toothbrush or a spoolie will also do great!) to apply a small amount of primer to tame any flyaways and create the ultimate “clean girl” look. Air drying The primer can also be used on damp hair after washing to cut down drying time, enhance your natural waves or curls and prevent frizz as your hair dries naturally.  Step 1: After washing your hair, gently squeeze out the excess water using a hydrophilic towel or a cotton t-shirt.  Step 2: When your hair is damp, warm 1 to 2 pea-sized amounts of the primer up in the palms of your hands (1 for short hair, 2 to 3 for long or very long hair). Then run this through the lengths of your hair, brushing it through to make sure your hair is evenly coated. You can focus a little more product on the areas where you experience the most frizz. Step 3: Allow your hair to air dry and be amazed at how quickly it dries and how frizz-free it is! If you’d like to enhance your curls, scrunch the product into damp hair and then use the “plop” method, placing your hair in a hydrophilic towel or cotton t-shirt and leaving it to dry completely. The primer will give the hair some hold and define your curls whilst cutting down frizz. If you want to create beachy waves, braid your hair or leave it in a bun until totally dry.  Propolis Infused Texturising Wave Spray This is another great multi-tasking product. The Propolis Infused Texturising Wave Spray creates instant beachy waves, and adds body and volume for an effortless, lasting tousled look, without making hair heavy, sticky or dry. It is a very fine mist and can be likened to a lightweight sea-salt spray.  Beachy Waves Step 1:  Apply the product to damp hair after your washing routine. Make sure to spray it on evenly from an arms-length distance, brushing it through using a wide-tooth comb.  Step 2: Scrunch the hair to promote waves/curls, and then "plop" the hair into a cotton t-shirt to dry, or put your hair into a bun or braid to dry. Step 3: Once your hair is totally dry, let it down and gently run your fingers through your waves.   Volume & texture The texturising wave spray can also be used at the root of the hair to give your hair some lift and added to the lengths to give you the perfect Brigitte Bardot bedhead look. To add volume, lift the hair and apply a couple of sprays of the product to the root area from an arm’s length distance. Then massage the product in, lifting the hair with your fingers to add volume. For the tousled look, apply the product to the lengths of your hair, scrunching and massaging to add texture.  Hold It can also be used to give your style added hold - for example, after curling (or for natural curls), you can use wave spray to extend the life of your curls. It acts like hairspray without the stickiness! Simply use a few sprays onto your curls, scrunching it in to activate the product and enhance your curls.  Propolis Infused Heat Protecting Spray This product is very straightforward. I study and observe the trees, types of flowers that are blossoming in the Bee Garden and then I check on the bees. I open the hives, see if they’re healthy and have an open food supply and of course, check on the queen. If she’s healthy, she will lay eggs and that’s an indication of a healthy hive,” says Negar. When it’s humid out and there’s a high level of moisture in the air, hydrogen molecules bind with the proteins in your hair, triggering curls and frizz. Our hair is extremely sensitive to humidity, which is why you immediately notice it in the texture of your hair. Straight hair becomes wavy, wavy hair becomes curly and curly hair becomes even curlier and frizzy.  How does sunlight damage your hair? You might already know that prolonged exposure to the sun - UVA and UVB rays - can damage your hair. Here’s why: sunlight and heat absorb moisture from your hair cuticles and it also degrades the protein in your hair strands, which leads to hair protein loss, leading to weak and brittle hair.  How to prep & protect your hair for swimming So how do you care for your hair when you’re at the beach or in the pool? As you probably already know, sun, salty water and chlorine can be extremely drying for the hair, making it more susceptible to breakage. This makes pre- and post-swim hair care routines extremely important. Pre-swim hair care routine Step 1: The night before you’ll be going swimming, apply our Honey Infused Scalp Treatment. You can use this twice per week during your holiday to keep your scalp hydrated. This is important, because your scalp will also be exposed to sunlight and your skin may also be dried out from the water. Simply apply this product in the evening, onto dry hair, leaving it on overnight to fully absorb. There is no need to rinse this out the next day, especially if you’ll be swimming!  Step 2: Before heading to the pool or beach, wet your hair in the shower, and follow up with a generous amount of Honey Infused Leave-In Conditioner from root to tip. This will prevent your hair from absorbing as much salt water or chlorine. This will also help lock in moisture, and prevent your hair from being stripped of its natural oils while you swim. Prolonged exposure to the sun and UV-rays can damage the hair cuticle, leading to discoloration, dryness, split ends and frizziness. Step 4: Swim and enjoy! Cause #1: Environment The weather plays a huge role in your hair’s moisture levels. Cold, dry weather, combined with indoor heating can suck the moisture from your hair. Hot, sunny weather also puts your hair under strain. While dry shampoo and a slicked-back hairstyle can mask the signs of oily hair, nobody wants to deal with oily hair and an oily scalp on a daily basis. We are here to help explain some of the underlying causes of oily hair and recommend the best haircare products for oily hair. Why is my hair oily? Oily hair is often caused by an overproduction of sebum. Sebum is a substance produced by your body's sebaceous glands to help moisturise and protect your hair and skin. Washing tips for oily hair Not only are your hair care products important, but the way you use them also plays a role in the state of your hair. Below we will provide you with a few of our top washing tips. Extend the time between washes We know it’s tough, but your hair will thank you in the long run. As we mentioned before, stripping your hair by washing it daily can cure those sebaceous glands to produce more oil. If you’re a daily washer, try washing every second day for two weeks, and then every third day for two weeks and so on. This way you can slowly adjust to fewer wash days. You can opt for a dry shampoo to help you through the transition.  Wash well Soak your hair: Make sure your hair is soaked before applying the shampoo - this is important as it will help you easily distribute the product throughout your hair. Less is more: apply 2 to 3 pumps of the Honey Infused Hair Wash into the palms of your hands, mixing with a small amount of water. Rub the palms together to create a gentle lather. Keep in mind that this product won’t create huge clouds of foam — this doesn’t mean you need more!  Focus on your scalp: once you’ve lathered the product, focus it on your scalp and take 2 to 3 minutes to gently massage the product in.
