We are committed to becoming a cleaner & greener Gisou. Our efforts — towards becoming a more sustainable company, to be held accountable and to never stop improving — focus on 6 key pillars.

We always prioritize bee welfare and let the bees guide our beekeeping practices to derive Mirsalehi Honey and Mirsalehi Propolis, our key ingredients, in a bee friendly and sustainable manner.

PRIORITIZE BEE WELFARE WHILE SOURCING OUR KEY INGREDIENTS

This year, we continued — and evolved — our methods of support:

To further support bee welfare and our objective of spreading awareness about the importance of bees, we opened a new Bee Garden during the 2023 Bee Season.
We only harvest surpluses of honey and propolis from the bees.
We will increase the variety of flowers in the Mirsalehi Bee Garden to expand pollen & nectar sources.

RAISE AWARENESS FOR THE IMPORTANCE OF HONEY BEES

Our mission is to raise awareness around how important honey bees are to our ecosystem. We aim to encourage more people to explore what beekeeping is all about.

We do this by:

Offering aspiring beekeepers in our community & anyone who’s interested in bees and beekeeping the chance to become one through our Bee Learning Course.
Supporting local beekeepers through our Gisou Bees Project initiative
Educating and training our retailers around the world.

CLEAN OUR PRODUCT FORMULATIONS

Without compromising on function and quality, we continually strive to make our formulations greener, using as many natural ingredients as possible.

Our Face Oil, Lip Oil, Beauty Balm and Scalp Treatment are all over 95% natural!
Since 2023, we’re officially Clean at Sephora, following one of the highest standards of clean beauty.
We continuously review our existing product formulations to see if improvements can be made.
We will continue to use actives that are COSMOS* approved to deliver naturally powerful formulas.

IMPROVE THE SUSTAINABILITY OF OUR PACKAGING

We remain committed to striking the right balance between aesthetics and the use of recycled, recyclable and biodegradable materials.

We ship all of our EU and UK orders in branded shipping boxes, which include a call to action to reuse and recycle with us
All of our secondary packaging and shipping boxes are made of FSC-certified paper
We reduced the sizing of our packaging and shipment boxes to increase efficiency
All of our packaging has recycling instructions and can be separated and recycled
We are developing refillable packaging solutions for our best-selling haircare products

REDUCE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

We actively work to reduce our CO2 footprint worldwide throughout our supply chain.

Our main manufacturing site is 100% Carbon Neutral, fully powered by solar energy and actively works to reduce trash and water waste
Our main shipping partner across Europe ships parcels that are 100% Carbon Neutral.
100% of the energy at our new office in Amsterdam is generated through solar roof panels and wind energy.
We focus on partnerships with suppliers closer to our production facilities to reduce transport and therefore our CO₂ footprint
