Gisou 101: Propolis Infused Heat Protecting Spray

One of the main contributing factors to damaged, dull and dehydrated hair is heat styling. However, this can be easily prevented by using a heat protectant in your styling routine. We’d argue that a heat protecting spray is an essential product in any haircare routine, especially when you use heat on your hair such as blow drying, straightening or curling.

How does heat protectant spray work?

Heat protecting spray works by creating a barrier around the hair, so when heat is applied it protects the hair from burning and drying out. A heat protectant adds a protective layer to your hair which helps seal in moisture and smoother your hair cuticles.

The benefits of using a heat spray for your hair:

  • Prevents loss of moisture
  • Prevents breakage and split ends
  • Enhances hair texture, volume and definition
  • Prevents damage to the hair cuticle
  • Prevents and diminishes frizz
  • Helps your hairstyle last longer
  • Prevents sun damage (if the heat spray contains a UV-filter)

Propolis: the key ingredient

The key ingredient in our Heat Protecting Spray is propolis, which is a natural heat protectant that benefits your hair by protecting it and keeping it healthy. It contains numerous oils, vitamins, minerals and flavonoids, which are richly fortifying and help protect your hair from heat damage, retain moisture, as well as prevent breakage and split ends. Propolis also promotes the growth of cells that contribute to hair growth

How to use the Heat Protecting Spray

How to use the Heat Spray before styling or blow drying

Section the hair and mist the product evenly from an arm’s length distance onto towel-dried hair before blow-drying or on dry hair before using other heat styling tools. Reapply before adding additional heat to the hair. Therefore, if heat has already been applied to the hair and you’re going in with an additional heat tool it’s best to reapply to protect against damage.

How to use the Heat Spray before sun exposure

The Propolis Infused Heat Protecting Spray contains a UV filter which will help protect your hair from damage caused by UV-rays. We recommend sectioning your hair and applying the product evenly over the hair before exposure to the sun. Be sure to reapply if you will be out in the sun for an extended period of time!

Do you apply heat protectant to dry or wet hair?

If you’re using a blow-dryer, you can apply the Heat Protecting Spray to towel-dried or damp hair. If you’re using heated styling tools such as a Curling Tool, apply the Heat Protecting Spray to dry hair and allow it to dry for a couple of minutes before using the tool. Never use heated styling tools on damp or wet hair, as this might damage your hair.
